As of March 1, 2025, I officially left the Republican Party—and I didn’t do it lightly. I grew up with the GOP of Reagan and principled conservatism, a party that believed in character, truth, and personal responsibility.
But that party no longer exists. It has been replaced by a MAGA-dominated movement where loyalty to one man outweighs loyalty to America.
Today we live in an era where truth is optional, character is ignored, and far too many people—left and right—listen only to the voices that confirm what they already want to believe.
One side is being led by radical leftists who want government control over nearly every part of American life.
The other side is being led by a power-hungry figure surrounded by yes-men and fanatics.
And America is suffering because of it.
My Experience with Trump
I supported Donald Trump in both 2016 and 2020—but even from the beginning, I was uneasy. His constant personal attacks, childish nicknames, and nonstop feuds were embarrassing and unnecessary. There was no excuse for that behavior, yet millions cheered it on.
A close friend of mine was “all in” for Trump. Whenever I voiced concerns about Trump’s character, I’d get the same response:
“Get on the Trump Train.”
No debate. No facts. Just blind allegiance.
To be fair, Trump did expose the true direction of today’s Democratic Party—a party increasingly influenced by far-left socialists who believe in massive government dependency and lower standards for Americans. But exposing the Democrats doesn’t excuse his own behavior. Nor does it justify the cult-like devotion he commands.
The Two Types of Trump Voters
In my view, there are two very different kinds of Trump voters:
1. Trump Supporters
These voters may not like Trump personally but see him as the lesser evil. They question, research, and genuinely want what’s best for the country.
I respect them.
2. The Trumpers
These are the true believers.
They chant “We love you, President Trump!”
They reject any criticism as lies.
They call lifelong conservatives “RINOs.”
They mimic Trump’s every word and refuse to consider facts or alternative viewpoints.
These individuals have abandoned the conservative principles they claim to defend.
The Republican Party I Knew Is Gone
What we’re left with is a Republican Party taken over by Trump, his inner circle, intimidated politicians, and the Trumpers. Integrity has been traded for influence; principle has been replaced by power.
But let’s be honest:
The Democratic Party is no better.
It has embraced extreme policies, lowered expectations, and protects its own no matter how wrong they may be.
Both parties are drowning in lies, corruption, hate, hypocrisy, and a stunning lack of leadership.
America deserves better than this two-party disaster.
Why a Third Option Is Necessary
That’s why I believe it’s time to build a viable third party.
Not tomorrow—now.
I have done the research. I have full confidence in the Forward Party, and I’m proud that the America Together Coalition is partnering with them to build a movement rooted in:
- Character
- Truth
- Collaboration
- Strong leadership
- Real solutions—not cult-like politics
This is the path forward for Americans who still believe in decency and honesty.
Reagan Was Right… and Still Is
President Reagan famously said:
“The person who agrees with you 80% of the time is a friend and an ally—not a 20% traitor.”
That’s the spirit we must revive.
But in today’s toxic political environment, we may need to broaden that standard to 60–65%. We need a movement that encourages compromise, unity, and serious thinking—not one that punishes disagreement or worships political celebrities.
It’s time to stand up—for character, for truth, and for a better future.
